When Veterans leave the military, they are eligible for certain benefits, including compensation for any disabilities caused by their time in service. To receive those benefits, Veterans need to go through a complex disability claim submission process with the VA. Most veterans have been through the VA claims process at least once and are often denied, resulting in thousands of backlogged appeals and under-represented Veterans. In fact, up to 40% of veterans are denied compensation for service-related disability claims. Veterans making claims with the VA are often frustrated and feel underappreciated as they are forced to fight for the benefits they have already earned. DBQ Pro is an application based on years of experience taking veterans through the claims process. Claims using our application will be twice as likely to be accepted, take half the time to complete, and take up to 3 months less than average to get a decision. Taking veterans step-by-step, DBQ Pro streamlines the VA Disability Claims process with expertly curated user-friendly prompts and data automations. Our simple to use interface is backed by software developers and engineers who have created tailored logic, data privacy, and information systems specifically with the VA claims process in mind. Specifically, DBQ Pro helps veterans collect medical evidence quickly and easily. Veterans are lead through simple prompts one at a time with definitions and guides to help ensure response accuracy. DBQ Pro also provides Veterans rating, benefit, and backpay estimates giving them the information they need to make informed decisions about their claims. Once all necessary information has been collected, our software then automatically translates the Veteran’s answers into the VA’s official disability benefit questionnaire (DBQ) format. Taking it one step further, DBQ Pro then connects Veterans to third party medical evaluators. Our network of experienced medical providers are supported by similar streamlined product features through our application. This helps to reduce the time it takes a doctor to correctly verify, and document health conditions based on VA standards. Evaluators can view scheduled Veteran appointments, access all pertinent VA and medical documentation in one place, adjust Veteran inputs as needed, and download documents for their records. Paring veterans with evaluators in their area ensures that claims are substantiated before they reach the VA limiting fraudulent claims and further reducing potential appeals. DBQ Pro’s mission will be to increase Veteran quality of life and increase VA process efficiency. With a conservative growth estimate we expect to help over 35k veterans and prevent close to 15k appeals and refilling’s by 2024. Efficiency is our business, and we hope DBQ Pro will help the VA decrease unnecessary appeals and re-filings so we can all focus on supporting our valued Veterans.

My Health Application is being managed by the CARIN Alliance, which is a multi-sector alliance led by distinguished risk-bearing providers, health plans, pharmaceutical companies, consumer platform companies, health IT companies, third-party applications, and consumer-advocates working collaboratively with other stakeholders in government to overcome barriers in advancing consumer-directed exchange across the U.S.

Why is this project important?

The vision of the CARIN Alliance is to rapidly advance the ability for consumers and their authorized caregivers to easily get, use, and share their digital health information when, where, and how they want to achieve their goals. Specifically, we are promoting the ability for consumers and their authorized caregivers to gain digital access to their health information via non-proprietary application programming interfaces or APIs.

We envision a future where any consumer can choose any application to retrieve both their complete health record and their complete coverage information from any provider or health plan in the country in a secure manner while protecting their privacy and individual consent sharing preferences. This website helps to advance the ability for consumers to access an application of their choice based on their own individual data sharing preferences.

How were these applications added to the website and which ones should I trust?

These applications came from the CMS Blue Button 2.0 site, EHR application vendor websites, CARIN Alliance members, and other public sources. Right now, the only thing that the CARIN Alliance has done is list the websites. Our initial goal is to focus on transparency and making sure the individual selecting an application knows where to go to find an application. We are also trying to make each application’s privacy policies and terms of service more readily available to the individual. Over time, we want to provide more consumer-friendly ways to help individuals understand how these applications are using their data.
